We all know driving can be dangerous and that truck accidents will happen. Hopefully, you will have a safe journey while on the road, but what should you do if you are injured by a semi tractor-trailer and it isn’t your fault? What if the wreck is due to the trucker’s negligent operation or negligent maintenance of the truck? We at Grossman & Moore have years of experience helping victims of truck accidents and can help you get through this difficult time. We will work hard to resolve your claim. Call us today so we can start working for you.

Our firm will immediately begin investigating your claim. We have accident reconstructionists on call ready to inspect the scene, interview witnesses, and analyze the evidence, including crush damage, skid marks, and black boxes. It is critical for the investigation to begin immediately.

Since the late 1970s, approximately 12 to 13% of all motor vehicle fatal crashes were the result of a wreck involving a large truck. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, there were 4,930 large trucks involved in fatal crashes, 101,000 involved in injury crashes, and 351,000 involved in property damage only crashes for a total of 457,000 large trucks involved in motor vehicle accidents in 2000.

We will work to get you paid immediately for your lost wages, medical expenses, and property damage.

Grossman & Moore have represented individuals who received injuries in truck crashes caused by trucks that have jackknifed, rolled over, or lost control due to excessive speeds. Other cases involved drivers’ negligence due to: sleeping at the wheel, use of a cell phone, tailgating, and speeding. Our attorneys also have experience handling cases of negligent maintenance of trucks. These cases involve companies that fail to properly maintain their tractor-trailers, i.e., worn out tires, inadequate brakes, burned out lights. If you are the victim of a trucker’s negligence either due to operation or maintenance, then call the attorneys at Grossman & Moore.
Here are a few tips to consider if you are involved in a truck wreck:
  1. Call 911 immediately if you are in a truck wreck.
  2. Do not move your vehicle until the police arrive.
  3. If you are injured, remain in your vehicle (if it is still safe) until medical assistance arrives.
  4. If able, obtain the name, address, and phone number of the person who hit you and the name, address, and phone number of the insurance company for the at-fault driver.
  5. If able, photograph the accident scene prior to the vehicles being moved and photograph the damage to your vehicle.
  6. Ask for the name of the responding police officer.
  7. Obtain the names, addresses, and phone numbers of any witnesses.
  8. Seek medical attention if you are injured.
  9. Within a week following the collision, obtain a copy of the police report from the police department who responded to the scene.
  10. Notify your own insurance company regardless of whether you were at fault.
  11. Do not sign any insurance papers without seeking the assistance of an attorney.
